The Campus Vision & Continuous Improvement

Continuous school improvement begins with a well-articulated vision that is developed by a representative group of stakeholders. These stakeholders, in regards to the professional learning opportunities provided to our teachers, include the principal, the instructional leader for each department, including special education and the gifted and talented program. It is important to include representatives of all stakeholders in order to increase the support of the vision. These individuals meet as one team that defines, re-configures, or confirms the vision of the campus.

Once the vision is clearly defined, goals and learning objectives should be developed that pertain to each group of stakeholders. The goals and learning objectives should be measurable and timely so they may be assessed and analyzed regularly.

Lastly, there should be well thought out steps in place to address those who will need extra support in meeting each learning objective. There are always differences or contradictions as an organization moves through enacting its vision. These differences should not be ignored, but specially addressed to foster growth. Supporting each stakeholder through the process will be a key factor in ensuring the fulfillment of the vision.
